Smart Communications is now offering 5G roaming in Taiwan and South Korea. The latest service was activated in partnership with FarEasTone Communications (FET) in Taiwan and KT Corp. in South Korea.
The two number among the world’s top three countries for best 5G experience in a February 2021 report by mobile analytics and insights research company Opensignal.
With the latest partnership, Smart Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers roaming in Taiwan and South Korea can enjoy 5G speeds with 5G capable smartphones. They can can also maximize the service by subscribing to Smart’s GigaRoam plans for as low as Php 999.
Smart, FET and KT are members of the CONEXUS Mobile Alliance, which is composed of 9 member-telcos in Asia who are at the forefront of delivering innovative, customer-friendly services for customers of member operators who frequently travel on business. CONEXUS is currently chaired by Katrina Luna-Abelarde, President and CEO at PLDT Global and head of International and Carrier Business.
How to activate Smart Roaming
To use the service, Smart subscribers can activate roaming by visiting roam.smart.com.ph once they are in Taiwan, South Korea or other roaming partner countries and subscribing to available data roaming plans.

They have to have WiFi turned OFF and DATA ROAMING and MOBILE DATA turned ON.
