PLDT, Smart ready to deploy assistance amid Mayon alert

PLDT and Smart Communications have started preparing mission-critical equipment and personnel as PHIVOLCS raises Mayon Volcano to alert level two.

PLDT and Smart network services remain stable in the area, with no damage to infrastructure, as reported by teams on the ground. Network Field Service operations responders within the area are ready to be deployed, complete with personal protective equipment, along with PLDT and Smart’s contractors for possible reinforcement.

Last September 30, PLDT and Smart turned over one Ligtas Kit to the Albay Public Safety and Emergency Management Office (APSEMO).

“We have reached out to Albay APSEMO to check the situation. As coordinated with Dr. Cedric Daep, Head of APSEMO, they are closely monitoring the development of Mayon, which would usually take weeks to a month. PLDT and Smart are one with the Albay LGU in keeping everyone safe and connected,” said Cathy Yang, First Vice President and Group Head of Corporate Communications at PLDT and Smart.

The PLDT and Smart Ligtas Kit is an all-in-one communications package that provides quick, emergency communications support to people in times of disaster. Each kit will also include emergency communications training to further build capacity among communities.
