Spotify raises the price of its Premium Plans in the Philippines

Spotify has raised the price of its Premium Plans in the Philippines. As far as we can tell, the new prices are in effect for new subscribers.

Spotify’s Individual Plan is now priced at ₱149 per month, up ₱20 from its previous price of ₱129. Meanwhile, the Duo Plan is now ₱185, up ₱16 from ₱169. Family Plan is also up to ₱214 per month with an increase of ₱20 from ₱194.

The Student Plan also saw an increase of ₱10 now ₱75 per month from ₱65. And lastly, the Spotify Mini plan remains the same at ₱7 a day and ₱26 per week for one account on mobile.

Here’s a table of the new price of the Spotify Premium Plans for comparison.

Premium PlanOld PriceNew Price
Mini ₱26 ₱26
Individual₱129₱149
Duo₱169₱185
Family₱194₱214
Student₱65₱75

The price increase looks reasonable and fair. On the other hand, Apple has also increased the price of Apple Music, along with its other services.

Spotify vs. Apple Music

The choice between Spotify and Apple Music will depend on your own tastes. Spotify has the better interface. While if you’re invested in Apple’s ecosystem (iPhone, iPad, etc.), then Apple Music makes more sense for you.

In terms of music quality, Spotify goes all the way up to 320 kbps on very high. But Apple Music has the upper hand with lossless audio and Spatial Audio, available in their standard plans.

Spotify does have a more diverse offering with a free plan (Ads, 160 kbps quality, and 6 skips an hour), a Mini Plan that costs ₱7 /day or ₱ 26 /week, and a Duo Plan for ₱185 /month (2 Premium accounts for a couple under one roof).

The difference in prices of the Premium Plans for both services are close to each other, and pretty much negligible in my opinion. Take a look at the comparison table below.

Monthly PlansSpotifyApple Music
Student₱75₱75
Individual₱149₱139
Family₱214₱219

Spotify and Apple Music’s offerings have their own pros and cons. Whichever is best for you will entirely depend on what you’re more comfortable with and what you’re looking for.
