The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) commemorated its 120th anniversary with a significant upgrade in taxpayer services, a brand new logo, and an upgraded web portal.
Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. announced on Thursday that the BIR achieved a nationwide 100-percent certification for several of its services under the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
The ISO certification streamlines various processes, including business registration, retrieval of tax documents, tax clearance issuance, and specific transactions handled by the document processing division.
In addition to operational improvements, the BIR unveiled a new logo and web portal.
The new logo was designed with taxpayer inclusivity in mind. It features the Philippine Eagle symbolizing the BIR’s tenacity and vigilance. Three stars represent the archipelago’s main regions, while a sun wreath signifies the agency’s role in national prosperity. Interlaced hands depict collaboration between BIR personnel and stakeholders, and the national flag colors embody the Bureau’s patriotism.
Meanwhile, the new web portal, developed in collaboration with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), prioritizes user-friendliness. It offers convenient access to tax information, BIR updates, and eServices, while projecting a modern and professional image.
