Google to boost Android performance with larger page sizes

OPPO Reno12 F 5G Coming Soon

Google is working on change that will give Android a speed boost. The search giant announced on the Android Developer Blog that the operating system will soon support 16KB page sizes.

This development will make Android “page-size agnostic,” meaning devices will soon be able to use both traditional 4KB and the larger 16KB page sizes. Google’s testing shows a potential 5-10% overall performance improvement. However, this comes at a cost of a 9% increase in memory usage.

The feature is available as a developer option on the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro starting in the Android 15 QPR1 Beta. While we won’t notice a difference right away, larger page sizes could significantly improve Android’s speed and efficiency.

For now, this is still in the developmental stages, which means it will be awhile before we see it on mainstream devices.
