PLDT Group aims for full connectivity in all state universities by 2025

PLDT Group is committed to bridging the digital divide in the Philippines by ensuring all state universities have full internet connectivity by 2025.

This initiative aligns with the government’s broader digitalization goals and builds upon existing collaborations with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC).

“Continued support is necessary to maintain this transformative initiative,” explained PLDT Chief Operating Officer Menardo “Butch” Jimenez Jr. “We are calling for renewed efforts to make digital education accessible in all state universities by 2025.”

Since 2022, the PLDT Group has successfully activated 1,000 Wi-Fi hotspots across 220 public Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), providing essential internet access to students and educators in 60 provinces.

Moreover, the Group’s commitment to digital inclusion extends beyond higher education. The School-in-a-Bag initiative has benefited over 600 schools, 11,000 educators, and 116,000 students across the country, providing portable digital classrooms in underserved communities.

Additionally, the Group’s Central Visayan Institute Foundation Dynamic Learning Program has been implemented in over 1,000 schools nationwide, improving student performance in STEM subjects through innovative teaching methods.
