Irish university offers degree in influencer studies

Becoming an influencer is now a career path for today’s Gen Z. A new academic program has launched in Ireland, offering students the opportunity to pursue a career as an influencer.

The South East Technological University in Carlow has introduced a four-year bachelor’s degree in “Content Creation and Social Media,” designed to equip students with the skills necessary to build a successful online presence and monetize their content.

The program was developed in response to the growing popularity of influencer culture and the increasing number of young people aspiring to become social media stars.

The course curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including creative video production, storytelling psychology, entrepreneurship, celebrity studies, data analytics, and podcasting.

Students enrolled in the program will learn how to create engaging content, build a strong personal brand, and leverage social media platforms to reach a large audience.

They will also gain insights into the business side of influencer marketing, including negotiation, contract management, and tax planning.

The term “influencer” has gained popularity in recent years, with social media platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube becoming breeding grounds for online celebrities. Influencers with large followings can make a substantial amount of money from sponsored content, brand partnerships, and advertisements.
