Apple has introduced Liquid Glass, a new design interface that enhances the user experience across iOS 26, iPadOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, watchOS 26, and tvOS 26.

Apple describes Liquid Glass as a translucent, dynamic material that reflects and refracts its surroundings, adapting intelligently to light and dark environments. It transforms system elements, including app icons, widgets, and navigation controls, creating a more visually stunning interface.
Alan Dye, Apple’s Vice President of Human Interface Design, described Liquid Glass as “our broadest software design update ever”, integrating with Apple’s ecosystem with a familiar feel.
Beyond aesthetics, buttons, sliders, and navigation bars dynamically adjust based on user interactions. In iOS 26, tab bars shrink when scrolling to prioritize content, then expand when needed. On macOS Tahoe 26, the Dock and menu bar adopt a transparent look, making the desktop feel more spacious.

Apple’s Liquid Glass also improves accessibility, adjusting contrast and color settings based on user preferences. Developers can integrate this design into their apps using updated APIs, ensuring a consistent experience across Apple devices.
