Commuters in Metro Manila now have a simple way to check train arrival times. A new web app called Rush PH helps people see when the next train is expected at LRT-1, LRT-2, and MRT-3 stations.
Built by Filipino developer Joshua Bumanlag, the app uses crowd-sourced data. Commuters report train sightings, and the app uses that information to calculate estimated arrival times.
To keep reports accurate, users must sign in with an email. The web app currently has an 81% accuracy.
Rush PH runs on web browsers and is designed for low-end smartphones. For now, it focuses only on train timing.
Bumanlag, a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila, was inspired by reliable train systems in countries like Singapore and Thailand.
The developer plans to expand coverage to carousel jeepneys, the PNR, and provincial transport routes. He also hopes to make the project open-source so other developers can help improve it.
Rush PH is free to use and available at rush-ph.com.
