PLDT says it’s seeing fewer cases of cable theft and vandalism this year. In the first half of 2025, incidents dropped by 43% compared to the same period last year. Related arrests also went down by 36%.
The telco credits the drop to stronger security and better teamwork with police, barangays, and local governments. It also worked with national agencies like the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center to stop stolen telco parts from being sold online.
PLDT has started working more closely with communities. In Makati, Dagupan, and Davao, it launched programs that help locals report and prevent damage to network equipment.
It is also teaming up with industry groups like the National Telecommunications Security Council and Protecta Pilipinas. These partnerships aim to reduce service interruptions and improve internet access.
The company says it’s not just reacting to theft, it’s trying to stop it before it happens. The goal is to build a safer, more stable network, especially in areas that don’t have strong connectivity yet.
