The Cambridge Dictionary has added 6,000 new words to its online edition, reflecting how internet culture continues to shape everyday language. Among the latest entries are skibidi, delulu, and tradwife, viral slang popularized by TikTok and YouTube.
Skibidi is a flexible word, which can mean cool, bad, or nothing at all. It’s often used as a joke. The term comes from Skibidi Toilet, a viral YouTube series known for its strange humor.
Delulu is short for delusional. It describes someone who believes something that isn’t true, often by choice. The word started in K-pop fan circles and has spread widely.
Tradwife (short for traditional wife) refers to a woman who embraces traditional gender roles. It’s often used by influencers who post about homemaking and family life.
Other new entries to the Cambridge Dictionary include broligarchy, a mix of bro and oligarchy, used to describe powerful tech leaders. Words like snackable and phrases like red flag and green flag have also gained new meanings.
