Google is rolling out new updates to YouTube Premium, making several features available on more platforms.
Premium users can now adjust playback speed in finer increments of up to 4x on Android, iOS, and the web. This feature was previously limited to mobile. The Jump Ahead tool, which lets users skip to key moments in a video, is also expanding to smart TVs and gaming consoles.
Audio quality is getting a boost for music content. Premium subscribers can now select “High” audio settings for official music videos and Art Tracks on both YouTube and YouTube Music apps. This option delivers a 256kbps bitrate and was previously only available in YouTube Music.
Shorts are also getting improvements. Picture-in-picture viewing and automatic downloads based on watch history are now available on iOS, matching what Android users already had.
These updates don’t change the core benefits of YouTube Premium, like ad-free viewing and access to YouTube Music. But they do make the experience more consistent across devices.
