Google launches Gemini for Home, replacing Assistant on smart devices

It replaces Assistant across smart home devices and the Home app.

Google has launched Gemini for Home, replacing Google Assistant on its smart home devices and the Home app. It’s designed to be more conversational and better at understanding what’s happening around the house.

Gemini lets you talk to your devices more naturally. You can ask follow-up questions, get context-aware answers, and describe what you want without needing exact phrasing. It works across Nest cameras, doorbells, and other smart home gear.

The Google Home app is also getting a refresh. It’s faster and easier to use. You can control devices and set routines using simple sentences.

Google is also releasing new hardware built for Gemini. This includes updated Nest Cams and a new Google Home Speaker.
