OpenAI has launched ChatGPT Atlas, a new web browser with a built-in AI assistant. The browser lets users ask questions, get help with tasks, and use ChatGPT directly on any website.
For now, Atlas is available worldwide on macOS for Free, Plus, Pro, Go, and Business plan subscribers. Versions for Windows, iOS, and Android are coming soon. One key feature is agent mode, which allows ChatGPT to take actions like researching, summarizing pages, or placing online orders, all within the browser.
The browser also uses memory to keep track of what users browse. This helps ChatGPT offer better suggestions, like continuing a search or summarizing job listings. Users can control what ChatGPT sees and remembers, with options to delete or archive browsing history.
Agent mode is still in preview and includes safety checks to avoid mistakes, especially on sensitive websites. Atlas also supports parental controls and lets users choose whether to share browsing data for training.

With Atlas, OpenAI is turning ChatGPT into a full assistant for everyday web use. It will directly challenge Chrome, as AI-powered browsing becomes more common. Stay tuned for more updates.
