Google adds scam detection to Circle to Search and Lens

The new feature helps you spot fraudulent messages.

Google is rolling out a new feature that helps you spot scam messages using Circle to Search and Google Lens.

Scam texts are everywhere. They usually ask for money or send links to shady sites. With this update, you can now check suspicious messages quickly without leaving your phone’s screen.

On Android, Circle to Search works by long pressing the home button or navigation bar, then circling the text you want to verify. For Lens, available on both Android and iOS, just take a screenshot of the message, open it in the Google app, and tap the image.

Google’s AI will then analyze the text and give you an overview with tips on what to do next. This could mean ignoring the message, blocking the sender, or reporting it. Google says the feature shows up when its system is confident about the result.

The rollout is global, so users everywhere can try it out. It’s a small but useful update that makes Circle to Search and Lens more than just shopping tools. Stay tuned for updates.
