According to reports, Apple is planning to revamp Siri, turning it into an AI chatbot with iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27. If it happens, this will be Apple’s biggest move in artificial intelligence, putting Siri in direct competition with ChatGPT and Google Gemini.
The new Siri, internally called Campos, will replace the current interface but keep the same activation methods. Users can still say “Siri” or press the side button, but the experience will be more advanced.
The AI chatbot will handle web searches, create content, generate images, and summarize files. It will also work across Apple’s core apps, including Mail, Music, Photos, and Podcasts.
Apple is partnering with Google to power the chatbot using Gemini AI models. Reports say Apple will pay Google around $1 billion annually for access.
Privacy is going to be a key focus. Apple is said to be weighing limits on how much memory the chatbot will keep about users.

The rollout will come in stages. A smaller Siri update with better search and on-screen analysis is expected in iOS 26.4 earlier in 2026. The full AI chatbot experience is planned for unveiling at WWDC in June, followed by a public release in September.
