Snapseed brings retro film filters to the iPhone’s camera

Remember Snapseed? Google’s image editing app was recently updated and now lets iPhone users shoot with retro film filters and manual camera controls. Beyond editing, the app adds Fuji and Kodak‑style looks directly in the camera, along with options for ISO, shutter speed, and focus.

Snapseed’s new set of filters inspired by classic film stocks such as Kodak Portra, Fuji Superia, Agfa Optima, and Polaroid 600. These filters apply in real time while shooting, similar to Fujifilm’s Film Simulation modes. Photos keep Snapseed’s editing stack, so users can adjust or replace filters later.

The app also includes a Pro mode with an exposure dial, which lets you adjust brightness directly. Custom “Looks” and themed viewfinder colors add flexibility for those who want consistent styles across shots.

Snapseed’s approach offers a nostalgic alternative for users who prefer analog‑inspired tones. While it won’t replace the iPhone’s default camera, it provides creative options for casual shooters and enthusiasts.

Google said the redesigned editor will also roll out to Android, though there’s no release date yet. For now, iPhone users get first access to Snapseed’s retro‑styled camera experience.
