iPhone prices in Japan jump 11%, PH still unchanged

Apple has increased iPhone prices in Japan, with hikes reaching as much as 11%. The adjustment covers the iPhone 17 lineup, iPhone Air, and iPhone 16e, making them more expensive for Japanese buyers.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max (256GB) now costs ¥214,800, up from ¥194,800. The iPhone 17 (256GB) starts is now ¥142,800 from ¥129,800.

Meanwhile, the iPhone Air (256GB) moved from ¥159,800 to ¥177,800, and the iPhone 16 (128GB) rose from ¥114,800 to ¥124,800. These new prices are already live on Apple’s Japan online store.

Apple has not given an official reason, but the weak yen is likely the main factor. Rising component costs also add pressure, with Macs and iPads seeing similar increases last month.

For now, the price hikes are limited to Japan. Analysts warn that higher prices could affect demand, especially as wages remain flat and living costs continue to rise.
