Instagram, the popular photo app is now on Windows Phone. That makes the platform less “behind” compared to more popular platforms like iOS and Android. Instagram used to be an exclusive app for Apple’s iOS ecosystem but eventually became available on Android when the latter’s user base exploded. Unofficial Instagram-related apps became available on Windows Phone in the beginning so it’s a good thing for Windows Phone users that the official app is now available for download.
If you want to download the app on your Windows Phone-running device, know that it is in beta stage so you may encounter hiccups and performance issues. If it turns out to be smooth from the get go, well and good.
The features that are conspicuously missing from the Windows Phone version of Instagram are support for video capture and uploading. Other missing features are the ability to tag people in photos and view maps from geotagged photos. Eventually, however, these features are expected to be added to the Windows Phone version. The interesting feature that Instagram for Windows Phone has right now is support for Live Tiles with data refresh.
