For those who didn’t updated their ASUS ZenFone 5 to Android Pie manually, you’re in luck because the Over-The-Air (or OTA) is coming.
The update version is V16.0610.1812.58 and it has Android 9 Pie and some security patches. To check if you have the update, just go to Settings> System and then tap “System Updates.”

The update will be pushed in batches, so if you don’t have it yet, don’t panic. But if you can’t wait, you can always do it manually. And don’t forget to back up your files and photos before proceeding.
