EMUI 9.1 seeding to Honor smartphones

Honor has started seeding the EMUI 9.1 update to its smartphones this August. The latest update will give the Honor 8X, Honor 9, Honor 10, Honor 10 Lite, and Honor Play performance-optimizing features, UI enhancements, and AI-assisted features.

The latest update will come with Extended Read-Only File System or EROFS, made to improve performance. EROFS improves read speed by up to 20% compared to the previous EXT4 system, meaning a smoother UI, faster app starts, and more efficient storage handling.

Other features EMUI 9.1 includes:

  • GPU Turbo 3.0 with added support for new games, which now total of 25. These games will have higher frame rates with lower power consumption. 
  • AI vlog editing with new presets, special effects and background music.
  • AR Measure app for length, area, and volume.
  • Streamlined and simplified UI elements, better menu structure, and more accessible options.

To check if you already have the update, go to Settings> System> Software update. You can also check the HiCare app under Update.
