Apple has just launched the iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 , iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max, also confirming the next generation smartphones’ naming convention. Here are the specs and prices in the Philippines.
Following Apple’s pattern of iPhone releases, the new models feature a design similar to its predecessors with flat metal frames. It does come with a few significant upgrades.
Let’s start with what they all have in common. The iPhone 13 series are equipped with brighter Super Retina XDR OLED displays topped with a Ceramic Shield glass and 20% smaller notches. They all have longer battery life compared to the previous generation, more storage capacities, and improved cameras.
The handsets are powered by Apple’s new A15 Bionic chip with 2 performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. It is paired with a 4‑core GPU and a 16‑core neural engine. Apple said it is 50% faster versus competing chips, while its GPU is said to be 30% faster versus its competitors. Its new neural engine is capable of up to 15.8 trillion operations per second.
iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13
The iPhone 13 mini and iPhone 13 have 5.4-inch and 6.1-inch display sizes. It still has the dual 12MP cameras, but with significant upgrades. The sensors have larger pixels that can gather up to 47% more light. In addition, Apple brought the iPhone 12 Pro Max’s sensor shift optical image stabilization to the iPhone 13 which allows up to 50% more light for better lowlight shooting.
For videos, Apple introduces the Cinematic Mode. Here, the camera can shoot in Dolby Vision HDR. It features automatic focusing functions. Such as focusing on the subject even if its in motion and focus transitions in real time.
As for the battery life, the iPhone 13 mini has up to 17 hours of video playback and up to 55 hours of audio playback. It lasts 1.5 hours longer than its predecessor. Meanwhile, the iPhone 13 has up to 19 hours of video playback and up to 75 hours of audio playback, lasting 2.5 hours longer than the iPhone 12.
Storage capacity now starts at 128GB, with 256GB and 512GB storage options.
iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 Pro Max
The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max have 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch displays with surgical grade stainless steel frames. Both come with ProMotion with adaptive refresh rates of up to 120Hz.
The Pro models are powered by the A15 Bionic chip, but with a 5-core GPU that offers up to 50% faster graphics than competing chips. It has three cameras — a 77mm telephoto camera with up to 3x optical zoom, a ultra-wide with improved autofocus, and the main camera with larger pixels. A new macro mode is also introduced with up to 2cm focusing distance.

It also comes with the new Cinematic Mode, where users can adjust the depth even after the video was captured.
For battery life, the iPhone 13 Pro lasts 1.5 hours longer than its predecessor, while the iPhone 13 Pro Max lasts up to 2.5 hours longer than the previous generation.
Storage starts at 128GB with 256GB, 512GB, and a whopping 1TB option.
