MRT-3 Libreng Sakay program extended for another 30 days until May 30

Good news to commuters who use the MRT. The MRT-3’s “Libreng Sakay” or free ride program has been extended until May 30, 2022, available during the train’s operating hours of 4:40 a.m. to 10:10 p.m.

The MRT-3 management said the free ride program was extended to help commuters amid inflation and the rising cost of fuel.

According to the Department of Transportation, the “Libreng Sakay” was developed to also test the capacity and performance of the rail line in accomodating up to or more than 350,000 passengers daily.

The free ride program was supposed to run from March 28 until April 30, to allow commuters to experience the newly-rehabilitated MRT-3 line. During that time, over 7,227,434 train passengers have benefited from the program.
