Netflix reveals two actors cast in upcoming Yu Yu Hakusho live-action series

Netflix unveils its two actors that were cast in the upcoming Yu Yu Hakusho live-action series.

Playing the lead role of Yusuke Urameshi (renamed Eugene in the Philippines) is Takumi Kitamura (Let Me Eat Your Pancreas, Tokyo Revengers). Meanwhile, the streaming giant also announced Jun Shison (Battle of Supreme High, Bubble) will be playing Kurama (Denise).

“When I first heard about Yu Yu Hakusho receiving a live-action adaptation, I honestly wondered if it would even be possible — but after being presented with the producer’s vision and possibilities with Netflix, my expectations grew and I found myself burning with passion to make this project come to life,” said series director Sho Tsukikawa.

Yu Yu Hakusho is a popular manga and anime that follows the adventures of junior high school student Yusuke, who gets killed while saving the life of a child, and revived as an “Underworld Detective.” He is joined in his adventures by Kazuma Kuwabara (Alfred), demon fox Kurama (Dennis/Denise), and fire demon Hiei (Vincent). The manga is considered a fan favorite and has sold over 50 million copies in Japan alone.

The show became popular in the Philippines way back in the 90s as Ghost Fighter. You can catch the original anime on Netflix.
