Fans of the hit Nickelodeon series Avatar: The Last Airbender are in for a treat as the lead stars of the Netflix live-action adaptation, Gordon Cormier and Dallas Liu, are coming to Manila for a fan event on February 21, 2024.
The actors, who play the roles of Avatar Aang and Prince Zuko respectively, announced their visit in a video posted on Netflix Philippines’ Facebook account and other official channels. They invited fans to join them at the Avatar: The Last Airbender fan event, promising it would be “amazing and so much fun”.
“Gulat kayo no” exclaimed Liu. “Let’s go. Yip Yip!” Cormier said, mimicking his character’s catchphrase, the young airbender who can control all four elements.
The fan event is part of the promotion for the Netflix live-action adaptation, which premieres on February 22. The show is the latest reimagining of the beloved animated series, which follows the adventures of Aang and his friends as they try to save the world from the tyranny of the Fire Nation and its leader, Fire Lord Ozai.
The show features a diverse cast of actors, including Ian Ousley as Sokka, Kiawentiio as Katara, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, and Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai. The show is created by Albert Kim, who also serves as the showrunner and writer, and executive produced by Jabbar Raisani and Michael Goi. The directors are Roseanne Liang and Jet Wilkinson.
Avatar: The Last Airbender is one of the most popular and critically acclaimed animated shows of all time, winning multiple awards and garnering a loyal fan base. The show originally aired on Nickelodeon from 2005 to 2008, and has since spawned a sequel series, The Legend of Korra, and several comics and novels.
