According to the World Health Organization, the Philippines has one of the highest burdens of tuberculosis (TB) in the world. In 2023 alone, over 600,000 cases were recorded, and since then the national government has allocated more funding to combat the disease.
As artificial intelligence (AI) spread across numerous industries, including the medical field, the entry of AI provides an opportunity to adopt more modern solutions to assist healthcare professionals in identifying and diagnosing diseases more accurately and effectively.
Recently, Advanced Abilities AI Smart Scan launched its portable AI-driven x-ray system, which can detect 32 pathologies and/or conditions, including TB. It can deliver up to 200 scans in 8 hours, cutting turnaround times from days to minutes, allowing timely intervention and enhanced patient outcomes.
Advanced Abilities hosted a medical outreach in Romblon, and utilized AI Smart Scan to evaluate 503 patients, where 424 of them had findings, with 63 of them having detected TB.
