Netflix Philippines dropped the trailer of its first-ever zombie feature film, Outside. Set for a global release on October 17, the film promises a gripping psychological horror that delves into the depths of human nature amidst a devastating outbreak.
Outside is directed by acclaimed filmmaker Carlo Ledesma. The story follows a family of four led by its unstable patriarch, Francis (Sid Lucero), as they seek refuge in a secluded farmhouse in the province. Together with his wife Iris (Beauty Gonzales) and their sons Josh (Marco Masa) and Lucas (Aiden Tyler Patdu), they must navigate the challenges of survival and the growing tensions within their own family.
The recently released trailer offers a glimpse into the family’s journey. The opening scene shows a rundown car marked with a bloody handprint on the window, setting the tone for the film’s narrative. As the trailer progresses, it reveals the family’s struggles to adapt to their new surroundings and the increasing paranoia that grips Francis.
Director Carlo Ledesma emphasized that Outside is more than just a zombie film. It’s a psychological thriller that explores the human condition in the face of a crisis. “At its core, it’s a film about a family’s survival,” he stated.
Ledesma, whose previous works include The Tunnel and Sunod, drew inspiration for Outside from his personal experiences growing up in Negros and his own feelings of isolation during the pandemic.
Outside features a talented cast that includes Sid Lucero, Beauty Gonzales, Marco Masa, Aiden Patdu, Enchong Dee, and Joel Torre. The film premieres globally on October 17, only on Netflix.
