Netflix raises subscription prices in the Philippines due to new VAT law

The price increase ranges from 12% to 13.5% across all tiers.

Netflix has officially increased the price of its monthly subscription plans in the Philippines, with adjustments ranging from 12% to 13.5% across all tiers, from Mobile to Premium.

The price hike comes in response to Republic Act (RA) 12023, which imposes a 12% value-added tax (VAT) on foreign digital service providers (DSPs), including streaming platforms, online advertising, and e-commerce.

New Pricing and Implementation

The updated subscription rates are now in effect for new subscribers, while existing users will see the changes reflected in their billing cycles starting June 1, 2025.

The Standard Plan, for instance, will increase from ₱399 to ₱449 per month, while the Premium Plan will rise from ₱549 to ₱619 per month. Other streaming services, including Steam, have also announced similar price adjustments in response to the VAT implementation.
