realme 15 Pro 5G review: Big battery, slim design, solid cameras

Slim, powerful, and long-lasting.

The realme 15 Pro 5G is the latest addition to realme’s mid-range lineup, and it brings some bold upgrades to the table, most notably, a massive 7,000mAh battery packed into an ultra-slim frame.

It also features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, and three 50MP cameras, including a Sony IMX896 sensor for the main shooter.

With a starting price of ₱27,999 (and a promo price of ₱20,999), the 15 Pro aims to deliver premium performance without the premium price tag. But does it live up to the promise? We spent time with the device to find out, and here’s what we learned.

[Update: We recently found out that the third camera is a multispectral sensor. Edited the review to reflect the new information.]

Design & Display

The realme 15 Pro 5G features an ultra-slim design, measuring just 7.79mm thick. That’s impressive, considering it houses a massive 7,000mAh battery, something rarely seen in such a slim frame.

Our test unit is in Flowing Silver, which has a white, marble-like finish and a transparent camera bump. If you prefer a darker look, there’s also Velvet Green, which has a soft, velvety texture.

At the back, the phone has a dual-camera setup with a third lens housing a multispectral sensor (more on this later).

The ultra-wide lens includes a Pulse Light around it that flashes for notifications. It’s a useful feature if you like placing your phone face down. There are also two LED flashes: one cool white and one warm, adding a nice touch for photography.

Overall, the design is clean and premium, more than the price tag suggests. It has a good hand feel, despite the thin design.

At the front, the 15 Pro features a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a sharp 2800×1280 FHD+ resolution. Slim bezels help maximize screen space, while the quad-curved edges highlight the phone’s sleek profile.

It’s worth noting that the 144Hz refresh rate only works on a limited number of apps and games, so the benefit may vary depending on what you use.

That said, the display delivers vibrant colors and deep blacks. With a peak brightness of 6,500 nits, it is easy to view even under direct sunlight.

Layout & Extras

The volume rocker and power button sit on the right side. At the bottom, you’ll find the SIM tray, microphones, USB-C port, and a bottom-firing speaker. Up top, there’s a secondary speaker, an IR blaster, and another microphone.

For durability, the 15 Pro uses Gorilla Glass 7i for the screen, along with ArmorShell protection and an airbag-style design to help guard against drops and bending.

It also carries IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance, which enable underwater photography and 4K video capture in up to 2 meters of fresh water for 30 minutes.

The phone features stereo speakers that can get fairly loud. While they’re not the best we’ve heard in the mid-range segment, they’re more than enough for watching videos and casual media use. The fingerprint scanner is fast and responsive, making unlocking quick.

Cameras

The 15 Pro features three 50MP sensors — two at the back for the main and ultra-wide, and a selfie camera in front. The rear also has a third rear cutout housing a multispectral sensor, which, according to realme representatives, helps capture more wavelengths of light to enhance color accuracy. A telephoto or periscope lens would have been ideal, but it likely would have compromised the phone’s slim profile.

The main shooter uses a Sony IMX896 sensor, commonly seen in upper mid-range phones. It has OIS, which helps reduce camera shake and minimize blurring.

The camera app is easy to navigate. Popular modes are front and center, while others, like Hi-Res, Pro, Starry Mode, and Underwater, are tucked under the “More” tab.

Imaging performance is impressive. Our test shots showed good detail, wide dynamic range, and vibrant colors. While it doesn’t match the most premium flagships, it holds its own against pricier mid-range models. For everyday use and social media, it’s more than enough.

Sample Photos

Zoom

The 15 Pro doesn’t have an optical zoom lens. Instead, it uses in-sensor zoom via a lossless crop of a high-resolution image. The results at 2x have good detail retention. However, pixelation becomes noticeable when going above that range.

Ultra-Wide

Selfies

Selfies are generally good with pleasant skin tones and ample details.

AI Erase

AI Erase can effectively remove people from the original photo. At this point, most phones in the mid-range segment are very much capable of doing this.

Performance

The 15 Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. Our review unit has 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. You can add 14GB via RAM expansion.

The handset also runs on realme UI 6 on top of Android 15. You get several AI features, including Circle to Search and Google Gemini. As with most phones, it comes with plenty of bloatware. Just remove or uninstall those you don’t need. As a bonus, you can also disable some system apps.

realme 15 Pro 5G

In terms of performance, the 15 Pro is smooth and snappy. The Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 is a strong performer in the mid-range segment. The phone feels responsive, with no lag or stutter. Apps launch quickly, and games are stable. MLBB, for example, can run at high settings with no issues.

Benchmark results back this up. It scored a very respectable 1,076,267 on AnTuTu. On Geekbench 6, it got 1,170 in the Single-Core Test and 3,376 in Multi-Core. And in 3DMark Wild Life, it scored 6,246.

Battery Life

The 15 Pro packs a massive 7,000mAh battery and supports 80W wired fast charging. With moderate to heavy use, it lasted nearly a day and a half on a single charge.

Battery life was impressive, especially considering the phone’s slim design. In the PC Mark Work 3.0 Battery Life test, it scored an impressive 15 hours and 42 minutes. The test started at 100% battery, with brightness at 80%, volume muted, and airplane mode turned on. That result translates to roughly 13 hours and 16 minutes of screen-on time.

Charging was quick, too. It took just 1 hour and 17 minutes to go from 20% to full. A 30-minute charge brought the battery up to 45%.

Final Thoughts

The realme 15 Pro 5G is the latest smartphone to bring a massive battery to the mid-range segment, without adding bulk. Despite its 7000mAh capacity, it stays impressively slim and easy to handle.

realme 15 Pro 5G

The phone performs well in other areas, too. It features a vibrant 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a smooth 144Hz refresh rate, a powerful Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor, and capable cameras for everyday use.

While it’s not a perfect device, the 15 Pro is still a solid daily driver that punches above its weight. It’s worth considering if you’re okay with a few compromises and want strong performance.
