The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has rolled out the Integrity Chain Portal, a digital platform built to improve transparency and accountability in public infrastructure projects.
The Integrity Chain Portal features a real-time dashboard that tracks projects from bidding and planning to awarding and completion. Records are stored on blockchain, making them traceable, auditable, and secure. Accredited validators from the Blockchain Council of the Philippines (BCP) can access the data to ensure accuracy.
According to the DPWH, the initiative is meant to prevent irregularities and restore public trust, amidst past controversies like the flood control projects. By using blockchain, the system decentralizes monitoring and reduces opportunities for manipulation.
The project is a joint effort between DPWH, BCP, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), and BYC Ventures.
