HONOR Pad X8b review: Durable tablet with everyday features

HONOR recently unveiled its toughest tablet yet. Built for kids, students, and professionals on the go, the HONOR Pad X8b packs solid specs for ₱10,999, including a 90Hz 11-inch display, a durable build, and smooth everyday performance.

But the real question is: does it deliver enough value at this price? Let’s take a closer look.

Display & Design

One of the highlights of the HONOR Pad X8b is its huge 11-inch display. It features a smooth 90Hz refresh rate, which makes scrolling through social media, school documents, or even gaming feel fluid.

Brightness is good for everyday use, and outdoor visibility holds up well even under direct light. HONOR also made a practical choice with the bezels. They’re thick enough to give you a comfortable grip without blocking the display.

Durability is the Pad X8b’s biggest selling point. Despite its slim 7.25mm profile and light 499g weight, the tablet feels solid in the hand. HONOR says the metal chassis improves strength by 90%, making it 60% more drop-resistant and 30% more crush-resistant compared to earlier models.

On top of that, it’s SGS-certified for drop, crush, and water resistance. Even with the tougher build, the Pad X8b remains portable and easy to carry around.

For audio, the Pad X8b comes with a quad-speaker setup tuned with HONOR Sound and Hi-Res Audio certification, delivering fuller sound for movies, classes, or casual listening.

Cameras

The HONOR Pad X8b keeps things simple with a basic camera setup: a 5MP main shooter at the back and a 5MP selfie camera up front. It’s not designed for high-quality photography, but the rear camera is fine for quick snaps and casual use.

More importantly, the front camera does the job for online classes, meetings, and video calls, clear enough for everyday communication without fuss.

Performance

The HONOR Pad X8b is mainly a consumption and productivity device. It features a quad-speaker system that provides decent volume for watching videos. Audio quality is okay. It’s loud and clear, but it lacks depth. Overall, it’s fine at this price point.

Performance is smooth for everyday tasks. The tablet handles browsing, streaming, and casual games with ease. Heavy gaming is not recommended. It’s better suited for YouTube, Zoom calls, and light multitasking.

On the software side, it runs MagicOS 10.0 with Gemini AI features. Productivity tools like Multi-Window, Split-Screen, and Dynamic Shortcuts make multitasking easier. Families also get HONOR Kids Mode, which offers curated content, parental controls, and advanced eye-care features for safer use.

  • Geekbench 6:  402 single-core / 1,407 multi-core
  • 3DMarkWild Life: 591

Battery Life

Battery life is one of the Pad X8b’s stronger points. It comes with a large 10,100mAh battery that can last up to 97 days on standby and around 21 hours of video playback.

In daily use, it’s more than enough for a full day of streaming, online classes, or casual use without worrying about charging.

Closing Remarks

The HONOR Pad X8b is clearly aimed at kids and students. Its durable design and large, smooth display make it a practical tool for learning and entertainment.

Storage at 128GB may feel limiting, and it’s not built for heavy gaming, but it works well as a budget-friendly device for streaming, online classes, and everyday school tasks.

If you’re looking for a reliable, durable, and easy-to-hold tablet for the family, the Pad X8b is a strong contender in its price range.
