Valve reveals Steam Machine price and availability details

Valve has confirmed the official Steam Machine price and availability, with four configurations set to roll out through a reservation system. Reservations are open now until June 25, 10:00 AM PT, while purchase invites start on June 29.

The entry‑level model with 512GB storage is priced at $1,049, or $1,128 when bundled with the Steam Controller. The top‑tier 2TB model comes in at $1,349, or $1,428 with the controller. Buyers of the 2TB version also get two extra faceplates in red fabric and walnut.

Valve said that higher component costs and supply chain issues pushed prices up. Limited production runs also played a role.

To keep things fair, the company is using a randomized queue system. Requirements include a Steam account in good standing, at least one purchase before April 27, 2026, and one entry per household. If chosen for multiple queues, Valve will assign the highest‑end model available.

The Steam Machine is positioned as a PC gaming extension rather than a console. It runs SteamOS 3.8, which can already be installed on compatible PCs with AMD GPUs. Unlike consoles, Valve does not subsidize hardware with software sales, keeping the focus on openness and flexibility for PC gamers.
