Apple’s iPhone 17 was the best-selling smartphone in the world in Q2 2026, taking 6 percent of global unit sales, according to Counterpoint. Apple and Samsung together filled the top 10 list, accounting for 26 percent of overall sales, the highest June quarter share ever.
Apple’s sales grew 5 percent year-on-year, with strong gains in India, Japan, the Middle East, Africa, and nearly doubling in South Korea. The iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max also ranked high, supported by trade-in programs, promos, and financing offers.
The iPhone 17e stayed popular in the US and Japan, driven by carrier deals. Even the older iPhone 16 remained in the top 10, showing Apple’s wide reach across price points.
On Android, Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra was the best-selling model, marking the first time an ultra-premium Android led June quarter sales. Samsung’s Galaxy A series also performed well, offering affordable options with long-term software support.

Together, Apple and Samsung grew their share despite the overall smartphone market dropping 11 percent year-on-year.

With Apple’s next iPhone launch set for September, momentum is expected to continue, while Samsung balances premium and budget offerings.
