Apple HomeView launches with 7-inch display and smart home tools

Apple has launched Apple HomeView, a smart home hub with a 7-inch Liquid Retina display, Spatial Audio, and built-in controls for entertainment and home devices. It will be available starting November 13 in select countries.

HomeView is built for entertainment and communication. It comes with adaptive brightness, a custom acoustic system with woofer and passive radiators, and support for Apple Music, Podcasts, News, and Apple TV. You can also set it up with multiroom audio using HomePods and AirPlay speakers.

The device supports FaceTime with Center Stage, Messages, and Intercom. It works with iCloud+ for encrypted camera recognition, detecting faces, pets, packages, and vehicles. It can also alert you to smoke or carbon monoxide alarms and connects with Apple’s new Home Collection accessories like cameras, thermostats, and locks.

HomeView can recognize up to six users by face. Each person gets a personalized Home Screen with apps, widgets, and shared photo albums. You can also choose fun display options like Photos, Flow, or Snoopy animations.

Apple highlights privacy and security with Secure Exclaves in the A18 chip to keep camera and microphone data safe. Siri requests are processed on-device or through Private Cloud Compute, with no personal data stored.
