The HTC Desire V is the first dual-SIM offering from the Taiwanese manufacturer. In terms of design, it essentially mixes the design philosophy employed by HTC in its Sensation line and the current One line. I have with me for review an HTC Desire V unit and I just thought about sharing my initial impressions of the handset before posting my full review. The HTC Desire V sports a 4-inch display and is powered by a 1 GHz Qualcomm MSM 7227A processor. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and features a 5-megapixel rear camera, 4 GB internal memory (expandable) and 512 MB RAM. The HTC Desire V is priced at P16,990, and to some, this may be too much considering the cheaper dual-SIM alternatives in the market. From my initial impressions, I must say the price is not without basis. The HTC Desire V is a mid-range phone in terms of specs but it sure looks and feels like a more expensive handset. I was genuinely surprised to see the Desire V as a well-designed and fantastically built phone. The first thought that came to mind upon holding the Desire V is that it is very slim. It is in fact slimmer than the Sensation XE and just a tad thicker than the HTC One V. The next thing that I noticed is the phone’s weight -- it’s too light. This is good news to users who want something light and easy to carry. The screen on the HTC Desire V is also very good. It’s bright, vibrant, and also crisp. It’s not retina-level in terms of sharpness but it’s still good. For the price, the screen is pretty excellent in my opinion. So far, I like what I see with the HTC Desire V. It feels solid, it’s fast enough, and the screen is simply lovely. This is not a low-end phone that’s priced unreasonably. It’s definitely a good handset worthy of the price tag. Of course this is just based on my initial impressions. As for the performance, camera and battery life, please watch out for my full hands-on review.
