Bloomberg revealed a few details about Apple’s upcoming iPad 3 tablet. According to the publication’s sources, the manufacturing partners of Apple in Asia have already started production this month and will reach full volume in February. The iPad 3 will be seeing a March release said the report.
As to specs, Bloomberg revealed that the iPad 3 will sport a high-definition screen, run a faster processor and have next-generation wireless network connectivity. By faster processor, the publication meant a quad-core chip, which will make it at par, if not faster, than current quad-core tablets. This will help Apple strengthen its hold on the tablet market which now has a number of players, most of which are manufacturers of Android tablets.
As to the tablet’s display, it was not indicated if it will be the same retina display currently used on the iPhone 4S but rumors have always pointed to retina, so I guess it’s safe to assume that Apple will pair the iPad 3 with its highly-rated display. According to Bloomberg’s sources, the pixels on the iPad 3 will be small enough to make the images look like printed material, something that is possible with a retina display.
Bloomberg also mentioned that the iPad 3 will have an LTE capability and that Apple is bringing LTE to the iPad before the iPhone because the tablet has a bigger battery and is therefore more capable of running on LTE networks. The iPad 3 will also reportedly have an enhancement that lets users easily switch between applications.
These are all rumors so far, and Apple refused to confirm Bloomberg’s report. It also did not deny the report, so these rumors could still be true but as the cliche goes, only time will tell.
