Sony just launched a slew of compact cameras at CES 2013. Sony unveiled five new models – the Cyber-shot WX80, W730, W710, TF1 and H200. These cameras share common features including what Sony calls “Advanced Flash” which boosts the cameras sensitivity and extends the effective range of the flash, the “Beauty Effect” which allows users to re-touch shots, and the 360 Sweep Panorama mode previously available only on select models.
The most notable of these cameras is the Sony Cyber-shot TF1, a rugged point-and-shoot that’s water, dust and shock resistant. This will compete against the popular Canon PowerShot D20 and the Nikon CoolPix AW100, both popular rugged underwater cameras. It is waterproof (up to 10m or 33 feet), dustproof, shockproof and freeze proof. The Cyber-shot TF1 sports a 2.7-inch LCD display, a 16.1-megapixel sensor, a 25mm 4x optical zoom lens, a top sensitivity of ISO 3200 and a 1 frame-per-second burst mode. The TF1 is also capable of taking HD videos at 720p.
