Cherry Mobile Titan TV Announced, Specs and Price Detailed

Cherry Mobile’s Android phone line-up just keeps on piling up.  We have seen so many new Android handsets from Cherry Mobile in the past few months it’s quite hard to keep up. Cherry Mobile previously released the Blaze, Titan, Omega, Cruize, Flare, Flame and Rave.  Just recently, we learned about the Thunder which, we were told, is a Lazada exclusive.  The newest member of the Cherry Mobile Android family is the Titan TV.  The Cherry Mobile Titan TV deserves the “Titan” name since it has the biggest screen among Cherry Mobile Android phones.

The original Titan phone had a 5-inch display but the Titan TV is even bigger and in terms of specs, it’s also badder.  The Titan TV sports a huge 6-inch display it’s even bigger than the 5.5-inch Galaxy Note II from Samsung, the company which started the “phablet” craze.  At 6-inches, you’ll have all the screen real estate that you want in a smartphone.  Imagine how good it will be to play games and watch videos on the Titan TV’s display.   Its display is in fact close the 7-inch size of small Android tablets.  Cherry Mobile’s flyers do not say what the display resolution is so it’s too early to say if the Titan TV’s display will be good enough.  For the retail price of P6,999, it’s almost certain that the display will not be as good as we wish it to be but I would be glad to be proven wrong.  I shall do a little digging so I can find out the actual resolution.

The Titan TV, as the name implies, has a TV functionality.  That’s definitely a nice touch considering that the phone’s screen is huge.  With this phone, you can certainly keep up with your favorite lunch show or telenovela.   I can see people buying the Cherry Mobile Titan TV for its TV functionality more than any other feature.

The Titan TV is a beast of a phone in terms of computing power.  I say this in light of the fact that it is priced at only P6,999.   For this amount, you wouldn’t even expect a decent set of specs, let alone a 6-inch display.  Cherry Mobile has surprised us again since the Titan TV has a 1GHz dual-core CPU and 1GB of RAM.  Most of the offerings from Cherry Mobile had 512MB of RAM so this is quite a surprise.  A nice surprise if I may say.  There’s also an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front camera.  So far, so good.   The compromise comes in the internal storage which is a measly 4GB for this phone. However, there’s a microSD slot so this should not be a major issue if you want more than 4GB.  As to battery, the Cherry Mobile Titan TV has a decent 2500mAh battery.  That is usually enough for a smartphone but the 6-inch screen will definitely use up too much power.  Expect the battery life is probably anywhere from poor to decent.   It’s also worth mentioning that the Cherry Mobile Titan TV is a dual-SIM phone so that should cover two of your most favorite networks.

Here’s a list of the main specs of the Cherry Mobile Titan TV.

Cherry Mobile Titan TV Specs and Price

  • 6-inch WVGA display
  • 1GHz dual-core chip
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4GB internal storage
  • microSD card slot up to 32GB
  • WiFi connectivity
  • 8-megapixel rear camera with flash
  • 2-megapixel front camera
  • 2500mAh battery
  • Android Ice Cream Sandwich
  • TV Tuner
  • Dual-SIM
  • Free flip cover and stylus
  • Price: P6,999

This set of specs is quite compelling.  If the screen resolution turns out to be decent, the Cherry Mobile Titan TV could easily become the newest hit from Cherry Mobile since the Flare.  I’d love to do a review of this phone but that remains to be seen.

The question now is, is the Titan TV the “phablet” you’ve been waiting for? Are you getting one or are going to wait for the next one?

I’m gonna have to ask the same question by user name “ehem” below.
How good is this phone when it comes to drawing? Does it come with a stylus?
I really want a phone that doubles as a portable sketch pad for me. As you know, real sketch pads are a hassle to carry around and it has a lot of limitations.
Drawing using a phone app seems like an exciting thing. I’ve seen some creating wonderful drawings using their phones… I know the Galaxy Samsung phones may be better with this, but they’re just too pricey for me.
