Cherry Mobile Skyfire 2.0 Packs a 5-inch Screen and a 1.2GHz Quad-Core CPU

Launching a new handset every two weeks or so has become the trend with local phone brand Cherry Mobile.  It’s a strategy that seems to work for the company since sales figures appear to be good.  One of the new handsets to have been announced recently is the Skyfire 2.0.  There used to be a Cherry Mobile Skyfire and the new version is simply called Skyfire 2.0.  It seems that Cherry Mobile ran out of names so the new products are simply getting the “2.0” badge at the end of the name.

The Cherry Mobile Skyfire 2.0 is an Android device running the Jelly Bean version.  It’s therefore updated compared to the other handsets from Cherry Mobile.   It’s also one of the quad-core devices from the company, sporting a 1.2 GHz Snapdragon S4 quad-core processor.  With a display measuring 5 inches, the Skyfire 2.0 is a big handset just like the Titan.  Other main specs include an 8-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front camera, 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage, a microSD slot for storage expansion, dual-SIM functionality, 2000mAh battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and GPS.

You will need Php7,999 if you want to buy a Cherry Mobile Skyfire 2.0.  This is quite reasonable considering the specs but durability is another question all together.  Some users report that Cherry Mobile products are not that durable, some say they last long.  Maybe both camps are correct, which means that the problem with Cherry Mobile products lie in poor quality control.  If you intend to buy the Skyfire 2.0, make sure that you know what you are getting into.
