In case you’ve been living under a rock, Google+ or Google Plus is the search giant’s social networking site. It’s not Facebook in terms of scale and user engagement but recent statistics show that it’s slowly getting there. If recent reports are to be believed, Google Plus now has about 300 million active users. It’s far from the billion users on Facebook but considering that Google Plus only launched in 2011, 300 million active users sounds impressive.
Long URL for Google+ Profiles
Facebook allows users to customize and personalize their URL, but that’s not the case on Google Plus. It offers custom URLs to celebrities and big brands but for mere mortals, it’s still the long URL. That’s quite difficult since long URLs are hard to share. If you want a customized or shortened version of your Google Plus profile, you can use Gplus.to. It’s a service that shortens your Google Plus user ID with the format gplus.to/yourusername. It’s easy to set up. You just need to go to Gplus.to, enter your Google Plus profile URL and choose the extension you want.
Gplus.to works for both pages for brands and websites and personal profiles. My Gplus.to profile for the page for this blog looks like this:
