If you are always online you have most likely heard about Lazada and in fact might have visited the site. Lazada is an online shop that sells practically all items. The shop sells electronics products, appliances, health and beauty products, clothing items, books and even movies and music. Needless to say, it has become one of the top online shops in the Philippines and has presence in other countries in Southeast Asia.
Lazada recently disclosed an update, specifically, that Verlinvest, a Belgian investment holding company, invested on Lazada. The financing round that saw the injection of $100 worth of fresh capital was participated in by existing investors Holtzbrinck Ventures, Kinnevik, Summit Partners and Tengelmann Group. The new capital will be used to bolster the company’s aim of providing a great shopping experience to its customers. It will reportedly be used to “optimize its fulfilment infrastructure”. Right now, the company claims that it has a highly streamlined fulfilment process where 90% of all orders are shipped the same day and 85% of orders in metro areas are delivered within the next day.
Apart from the announcement relating to the injection of new capital, Lazada also announced the launch of its new mobile application. The application is currently available for Android users and an iPhone version will be available in the future. With mobile users currently expanding every minute, Lazada’s mobile app could not have arrived at a more opportune time. If you want to download the Lazada Android app, you can go here.
