I was one of the lucky ones to get an invite to PLDT Home’s press conference introducing the NBA players who will participate in their charity event dubbed The Last HOME Stand. Held at the NBA Cafe Manila in SM Aura Premier, the PLDT HOME Fibr All-Stars comprised of Kyle Lowry, Damian Lillard, Brandon Jennings, DeMar DeRozan, Terrence Ross, James Harden and 2014 NBA Finals MVP Kawhi Leonard fielded questions from our local press.
Being a long time fan of the San Antonio Spurs, I was naturally thrilled to see Kawhi Leonard. Seems like a good guy on and off the court.
The two day event featuring the PLDT HOME Fibr All-Stars on July 22 and 23 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, is expected to help the Gilas Pilipinas to train and prepare for the upcoming 2014 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Spain.
UPDATE: The match between the PLDT HOME Fibr All-Stars and Gilas Pilipinas won’t push through on July 23. Apparently, the NBA did not give a go-signal to allow its players to participate in an unsanctioned game. PLDT has since apologized, and will start offering refunds to those who have bought tickets.
