Rock amp maker Marshall announces “loudest mobile phone on earth”

Rock amp maker Marshall recently announced that it will enter into the smartphone industry with the Marshall London. One of the most recognized brands in pro audio industry, the company incorporated its design and expertise in coming up with the music-centric device.

The Marshall London features a 4.7 inch 720p IPS display, a 1.2GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of storage with a microSD slot, an 8MP camera and a removable 2,500mAh battery. The design will have that distinct Marshall amp look, with the leather looking vinyl back panel and gold metal accents.

Since the London will be a music centric smartphone, it will have a big focus on sound. First off, it will come equipped with a Wolfson WM8281 Audio Hub, two front-facing speakers (hence, the loudest mobile phone on earth tag), and two audio jacks. It is also equipped with a dedicated “M” button for quick access to your preferred music app. And finally, there is the nice looking (and very unique) gold scroll wheel for volume control.

The Marshall London is reported to be priced at GBP 399, which is roughly PHP28,300. It’s a very expensive, considering that there are better spec’d phones out there. For comparison, the Xioami Mi 4i (which launched a few days ago) comes at an affordable PHP9,799. But you do get a good looking phone (personally like the gold accents and scroll wheel) with (hopefully) enough music chops to impress audiophiles. Oh, and it comes with Marshall Mode in-ear headphones.

The London will be first released in the UK, Scandinavia, Sweden and the Balkan States. Marshall plans to bring it to as many territories as possible.
