Sony unveils the Xperia Z5, the Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 Premium

Sony Mobile unveils newest flagships, the Xperia Z5, the Xperia Z5 Compact and the Xperia Z5 Premium. The trio features class leading cameras, Snapdragon 810 processors, fingerprint scanners and IP68 certified water resistance.

Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Compact

The new Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact are powered by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processors, 3 GB of RAM and Adreno 430 GPUs. The former features a 5.2 inch full HD display while the latter comes with a 4.6 inch HD version.

The crowning glory of the Z5 series is its class leading camera. Currently ranked as the number one camera phone by DXO Mark, the Z5 uses Sony’s newest large 1/2.3 Exmor RS for mobile. The 23 MP sensor is paired with a fast F/2.0 G lens. What’s interesting is that Sony has completely re-imagined its camera module, something that they haven’t done since the Xperia Z1.

The camera also boasts the fastest autofocus speed on a mobile phone. Sony claims the Z5 can focus on a subject in just 0.03 seconds (that’s faster than a blink of a human eye at 0.1 to 0.5 secs.). Other features include Sony’s SteadyShot and Intelligent Active Mode for video.

Xperia Z5 Premium

The Xperia Z5 Premium comes with the same processor, RAM and storage. What makes this different from the other two is its 5.5 inch IPS 4K Triluminos display for mobile. It has four times the resolution of Full HD capable of depicting accurate details and natural colors.

Price and Availability

The Xperia Z5 and Z5 Compact are now available in stores. The Z5 has an SRP of PHP 35,990, while the Z5 Compact will come at PHP 29,990. The Z5 Premium will be available on December 3, 2015.
