The Vivo V7+ officially launches in the Philippines. The phone features a 6-inch 18:9 display, 64GB of storage, and a 24MP selfie camera.

Vivo V7+ Philippines Price, Specs, Availability

Priced at Php17,990, the Vivo V7+ is officially available in the Philippines. The smartphone’s main focus looks to be multimedia consumption, made for watching videos, listening to music, and taking selfies. Let’s take a quick look at the V7+ has to offer.

Display

The Vivo V7+ features a large 5.99-inch HD IPS FullView display with 2.5D Gorilla Glass, and an 18:9 aspect ratio. It’s slim bezel design gives it an 84.4 percent screen-to-body ratio, making it slimmer and shorter than an iPhone 7 Plus despite the large screen.

The display though, is only HD (720p) with a resolution of 1440 by 720, and a pixel density of 269ppi. While HD displays are often times acceptable in smaller screened devices, using it on a 6-inch size works against it.

Processor/RAM/Storage

Under the hood, the Vivo V7+ is powered by an octa-core 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 processor, paired with 4GB of RAM and an Adreno 506 graphics unit. Storage is generous at 64GB, with a microSD card expansion slot up to 256GB.

The entry level processor would no doubt be scrutinized, especially at this price point. But the Snapdragon 450 has its benefits. One, its more efficient and theoretically adds up to 4 more hours of battery life compared to its predecessor. Two, it supports Qualcomm updated LTE modem allowing for faster LTE speeds. And three, it performs 25-percent better performance in both CPU and graphics than the Snapdragon 435. Of course, a faster SoC would have been ideal, but it looks to me like Vivo is trying to find a good balance between price and a healthy feature set.

Camera

The Vivo V7+ boasts a 16MP rear camera with an f2.0 lens, PDAF and an LED flash. It has an Ultra HD feature that could boost the megapixel count to 64.

The phone’s standout feature here is the 24MP selfie camera. It has Face Beauty 7.0 that works even during video calls, and a Portrait Mode that blurs the background during selfies.

Audio/Face Access

Another addition to the smartphone’s myriad of features is the addition of the AK4376A audio chip. It allows for Hi Fidelity music that should satisfy most music lovers. Of course, to maximize this you would need good sounding earphones.

The phone also supports Face Access. Vivo’s version of Apple’s Face ID scans multiple areas of the face, and unlocks after identifying the biological facial features. I’m not sure how much of this would work, but unlocking the phone is as simple as picking it up and then looking at it.

So that’s the Vivo V7+ in a nutshell. The sleek modern design and robust feature set give it a leg up, but I am more concerned with its display and processor, given the price.

The Vivo V7+ has a retail price of Php17,990 and comes in Champagne Gold and Matte Black. It is now available for pre-order in Lazada.
