The Nokia 7.1 smartphone is now receiving the Android Pie update, according to HMD Global.

Good job, HMD Global. Another Nokia smartphone is reportedly receiving the Android 9 Pie update now. Earlier this month, the Nokia 6.1 and the Nokia 6.1 Plus got theirs. This time around, it’s the Nokia 7.1’s turn.
The news was announced by HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas via his official Twitter account, also mentioning that the rollout will happen in stages, meaning some markets will get it first.

The Android 9 Pie will include security patches, performance improvements, and added functionalities such as:
- App Actions – Helps get things done faster by predicting your next move and displaying the right action on your phone.
- Slices – Identifies relevant information on your favorite apps to make them more easily accessible when you need them.
- Adaptive Battery – Uses deep learning to understand usage patterns and prioritize battery power on important apps.
- New System Navigation and Gesture Controls – Features a single home button that provides intelligent predictions and suggestions (user-enabled).

The Nokia 7.1 comes with a 5.8-inch display with HDR10 support, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, and two RAM/storage variants — 3/32GB and 4/64GB. It is powered by a 3,060 mAh battery.
At the back, the Nokia 7.1 comes with dual Zeiss rear cameras, pairing a 12MP primary sensor with a 5MP depth sensor. It also has an 8MP selfie shooter.
As always, one of the advantages of a Nokia smartphone is its operating system. The Nokia 7.1 runs the Android One platform, meaning its stock, ensuring a cleaner UI and faster updates.
