Plants vs. Zombies 3 soft launches in the PH

Plants vs. Zombies 3 (PvZ 3) is now available for download in the Philippines. The Philippines is one of three countries to get first crack at the game, with Ireland and Romania being the other two.

PvZ 3 has the same objective as its predecessor, where you protect your backyard from invading zombies using a variety of attack and defense based plants.

This latest iteration, however, features several new elements such as new backyard, new gameplay (classic and lane-based tower defense), and a new social play or co-op element. The game now also runs in portrait mode instead of landscape and offers updated 3D graphics.

Bruce Maclean, executive producer at PopCap Games, discusses some of the new features of PvZ 3:

For this game, we wanted to incorporate social play, faster combat, and deeper synergies for the plant team. These changes meant that some of the old elements (sorry, Lawn Mowers) were reworked to fit this new vision.

Additionally, you’re no longer required to place Sunflower on your lawn to keep your plant army pumping. We decided to build strategy into the game in other ways, like providing multiple options to improve your sun production, which we think will make your battles more tactical and exciting. In this game, Sunflower’s role has been expanded in new ways and will be a key part of your strategy.

PvZ 3 is free to play, with optional microtransactions for those who want to spend money to speed up their progress.

According to EA, you would need an Android Galaxy S6 tier-device with KitKat (Android 4.4) or higher. It’s 85MB to download, and takes up around 230MB once installed on Android. It is available for compatible Android and iOS devices.
