Apple launches $99 MagSafe Battery Pack for iPhone 12 series

Apple launches the MagSafe Battery Pack for the iPhone 12 family. The company posted the new accessory on its US website for USD 99.

Unlike battery cases, this one attaches to the back of an iPhone via magnets, charging the device wirelessly. The new pack will work on all four iPhone 12s — iPhone 12 Mini, iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max.

The pack provides up to 5W of charging power. Its not the fastest, but it is convenient. It has its own Lightning Connector for charging. Apple recommends using a 20W or higher charger for this.

Assuming it supports Qi wireless charging, the MagSafe Battery Pack could work on other devices such as the AirPods or other brand phones and accessories.

Apple also says that it will work on compatible iPhone running iOS 14.7 or later. It starts working as soon as you stick it on the back of your iPhone, with the charging status appearing on the Lock screen.

The MagSafe Battery Pack is coming first to the US and other markets. There’s no word yet on when it will be available in the Philippines.
