The realme GT Master Edition is set to launch in the Philippines on September 23, 2021. The brand’s latest flagship features a Snapdragon 778G 5G chip, a 64MP main camera, a 65W fast charging support, and a beautiful design.
There are two variants — the Voyager Grey with a suitcase design, and Daybreak Blue, which is our review unit. And while we don’t yet know how much it costs, we do get to unbox it and share our initial impressions. Let’s dive in.
Unboxing
The realme GT Master Edition comes in a premium black box, away from the usual yellow packing. It’s fancier with the branding in big bold fonts and colored silver.
Inside, the handset comes with the usual accessories. The protective case, in particular, is made from an opaque soft rubber with a silky texture. The retail package also includes a 65W fast charger in-box.
In the box:
- realme GT Master Edition
- Phone case
- Pre-installed Screen protector
- 65W Fast Charger
- USB-C cable
- SIM tray ejector
- Documentation
Initial Review, Hands-on Impressions
The realme GT Master Edition is beautiful. Our review unit is in Daybreak Blue and features colors you’d associate with the dawn before sunrise. It uses a patented technology called PICASUS that covers the phone in a nano-laminate coating that gives it a metallic and holographic shine.
The frame is made from plastic with a silver finish. It comes in with a thickness of just 8mm and weighs only 174g.
At the front, the handset has a 6.43-inch Super AMOLED display from Samsung. It has a 2460 x 1080 resolution, an ultra-smooth 120Hz refresh rate, a responsive 360Hz touch sampling rate, and 100% DCI-P3 support. A quick look reveals a screen with deep blacks and punchy colors. It’s sharp, and quite pleasant when watching movies and videos.

The display has a punch hole camera on the upper left side. It’s small, and the placement isn’t distracting at all. It also has a pre-installed plastic screen protector, a fast in-display fingerprint scanner, and a quick face unlock.
At the back, you have the triple rear cameras on a vertical layout. It has large lenses with the flash on a camera island that’s raised a few millimeters off the panel.
On the left, you have the volume rocker and the dual SIM slot. While on the right sits the power button.
The headphone jack, microphone, USB-C port, and mono speaker are on the bottom, and on top is another microphone.
The realme GT Master Edition is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G 5G with a vapor chamber cooling system. Our review unit has 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. It runs on realme UI 2.0 on top of Android 11 and boasts a 4300mAh battery with a 65W fast charger that’s capable of topping up the handset in less than 40 minutes.
Coupled with the 120Hz refresh rate, the daily handling is great with butter-smooth animations and quick response times.
As for the cameras, the phone has a 64MP main, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro at the back, and a 32MP selfie camera in front. realme added a Street Photography mode with DIS Snapshot, Instant Focus, and Quick Zoom functions, and a set of filters. It also has Pro Night Mode, which lets users adjust camera settings, and Starry Mode that, as the name implies, will let you capture stars.
So far, the photo quality is very impressive, especially the Pro Night Mode. Check out our camera samples below. Swipe to see more photos.
Wrap Up
Right out of the gate, the realme GT Master Edition impresses with a beautiful design, decent cameras, a smooth UI, and that 65W fast charging. Initial impressions are definitely good. At this point, it’s too early to make any assumptions, especially when we do not yet know its price.
It’s likely going to be close to India’s pricing of INR 29,999, which converted is somewhere in the Php 20,990 or so range.
This ends our unboxing and initial impressions. Stay tuned for our full review, coming soon.
