Twitter will soon add an edit button

It looks like Twitter will soon add an edit button. The feature was one of the most requested among Twitter users, who have long been denied it until now, that is.

Twitter made it official with a tweet, saying that they have been testing the long-requested feature since last year (regardless of a poll, by the way), and kicking off testing within its TwitterBlue subscription service as a Lab feature in the coming months.

The tweet, seen below, also showed a GIF of the edit feature in action.

This came to light when on March 25, Elon Musk, Twitter’s largest shareholder and new board member, tweeted a poll asking his 80 million followers “do you want an edit button?”. It was soon followed up by Twitter CEO Parag Agrawal saying “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully.”

The poll had a strong reception. At the time of this article, it garnered over 4.4 million votes with almost 74% in favor of having an edit button.

The edit feature was already in development when Musk sent out the poll on Twitter. But it’s a good indication of how well it’s going to be received by Twitter users.
